Can’t Pay Cell Phone Bills in Los Angeles

For most of us a cell phone – and Internet – is the way of connecting with the world. Some of us no longer have landline phones at all. Once a financial hardship strikes and you can no longer afford to pay for your cell phone usage, you’re cut off from the world, even in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Don’t let this happen to you!

The great Affordable Connectivity program has run out of funds:

“Due to a lack of additional funding from Congress, the ACP stopped accepting new applications as of February 7, 2024. The last fully funded month of the ACP was April 2024, and the program has ended for now.”

But, if you can’t afford your cell phone or Internet bills, you may qualify to receive a free cell phone, free cell phone service and / or Internet from California Lifeline. Eligibility is income or governmental program-based. So, if your income is low or if you’re receiving some type of government assistance you might qualify if not for a freebie than at least a discount!

You can apply on one of these Websites:

  • How can I get a cellphone I am disabled and can’t afford one how does that work

  • Hello Sandy,
If you live in SoCal, please click on one of the links provided above. The first link leads directly to an enrollment form. You’ll have to document your neediness but yes: if you qualify, you’ll receive a free cell phone and cell phone time.
If you live outside of Southern California, type on Google search: “free cell phone” + your State and chances are that similar programs are available in your area.
    Good luck,
    Avo / One Human Community
